The official visits are just one of the ways that community members from the two sister cities stay in touch and continue to learn about each others cultures, countries, communities and history.
Littleton members have created lasting friendships with members of the Bega community. Every 2 1⁄2 years Littleton members either visit Australia or host Australians in Littleton.

In years ending in 3 and 8, a delegation from Bega Australia visits Littleton for 10 days filled with fun events and tours of Littleton and Colorado’s best attractions.

Travel to Australia
In years ending in 1 and 6, Littleton delegates travel to Australia and stay with two host families during a ten-day stay in the Bega Valley Shire. The days are filled with group activities, sightseeing, and maybe a barbie (barbeque) or two. The Bega Valley Shire is located on the Sapphire Coast on the eastern shores of Australia.

Student Ambassadors
Since 1996, a student from one of Littleton’s three high schools has been a part of each visiting delegation. Students who are applying for the all-expense paid trip prepare and present a program based on the theme, “Littleton, My Hometown” to a selection committee. The winning student gives the presentation to Littleton City Council and other local civic groups.
While in Bega, the program is presented to the Bega Valley Shire Council. Over the years, students have been very enthusiastic about their experiences as a student ambassador. Student ambassador families can host the Bega ambassador. Students have experienced lifelong friendships and perspectives of a different country and culture.
